My Life As Third Wheel

The Mak-Tatos. Life with them is like being the perpetual third guy right smack dab in the middle of a flourishing romance between your two best friends. Yes, you're having fun, they don't mind having you around, there will always be that open invitation to join in but ... who are you kidding? You will always be that odd man out.

Mak and Tato, four hours old

One afternoon, over a guessing game.
Tato: An animal that begins with the letter G.
Me: (feeling very competitive) Gorilla.. goat..goose..giraffe..g-g-g
Mak: Gecko
Tato: Yes!
Tato: It crawls outside when its not raining.
Me: Tato, naman. We need more clues than that.
Mak: Newt
Tato: Yes, newt.
Me: No way!
Conspiracy or the much talked about twin connection? Either way I'm screwed. I finally saw In The Womb (via You Tube, where else), Pioneer Production's documentary series for National Geographic. An in-depth, unprecedented look at fetal development in utero from the earliest days all the way till birth. Made possible thanks to state-of-the-art technology and 3d and 4D imagery. So Interesting I went on to watch their special on Multiples and the Twins, Triplets and Quads series.

I knew first hand by all that movement that there was a good amount of interaction going on. But to witness it through this series was mind-blowing. Gripping stuff. The kind that gives you goosebumps.

Tato giving Mak a big kick in the face at 24 weeks
Foot to forehead...like a game of Twister
While Mak and Tato never really spoke in their own secret language that some twins have been known to do (not yet anyway) and I have yet to see any of that telepathy I have read about , there is definitely a shared understanding. And a closeness that I am hoping, like good wine, will get even better over time.

In the meantime, I am the happiest third wheel around.

I remember when I caught that on TV I texted you right away to WATCH...

I don't have twins but it gave me goosebumps too. Like how they like to play with the curtain just like they did in the womb.... Tato and Mak will always have that special rare bond going on : ) Twin magic!

Twins are as unique as their relationship. They are a double blessing.

You know, it's funny you write about it today. I thought of you yesterday evening, there was an interesting documentary on swiss TV called 'The Mystery of Twins'. It was wonderful and gave me goosebumps too.

So enjoy your multiple blessing dear Nana, you REALLY have the two most handsome twins in the World! And please continue to share with you the magic of your universe. I love that, it's a treat to read!

Ah yes, the secret language of twins. Never team them together in a game of Taboo!

Nana, remember how you and my Supermama sis used to pretend you were twins? I wonder, do you have your own brand of fabricated wonder twin powers?
