it took a housewife

Her administration as president turned to be problematic, yes. Her decisions exasperated us, yes. But I am truly grateful for the symbol she became. For me, these were some of Cory Aquino's finest hours...

Remember hindi ka nag-iisa days?

photos from the New York Times.

It took awhile for me to read something about her that really resonated. Sheila Coronel put it all so well.

Thank you and farewell to Cory Aquino, "the mother of people power".

I wasn't her greatest fan but.. she showed so much grace and strength all throughout: as a single mother forced to raise her children on her own while Ninoy was in prison, a husband's assassination, rebels that tried countless times to seize power, a somewhat rebellious daughter and a cancer diagnosis. And you know I do have a soft spot for survivors!

Yes, yes... I knew we shared the same sentiments. Flaws and all, she was a viva mama, I had to say : )

My thoughts on Cory Aquino: She was thrust into extraneous circumstances , stretched beyond her limits and achieved the extraordinary. She stepped up and came through .I admire her most for staying true to herself, promoting the faith that gave her the strength and giving the world a face for peace in action.

Saint = not really
National hero = absolutely
